Well, it was one of those nights where you had to have been there!!
An emotional, real, raw presentation that held us captive in our seats. Clint’s first words were “I have a mental illness”…my nephews said “Auntie, it was an amazing night – us guys need that shock factor to make sense of someones struggles.”
Our own amazing Soul Sister Angie couldn’t have said it better – “It doesn’t matter how much counseling you go to, how much money you have, or even if you’ve written an amazing book discussing and bringing awareness to your pain..it doesn’t go away, period! This just doesn’t get fixed, it doesn’t just stop so you can share your neatly packaged message. It is your battle every moment of every day.”
Our hearts are full with gratitude to the Westlock Warriors – led by a kind, empathetic, caring leader Rod Kaliel; they were the best partners we could have asked for – true gentlemen filled with admiration and respect for a fellow hockey player. The team made Clint an honorary Westlock Warrior that night.
To our hockey “hot stove” panel participants – many, many great comments about how fantastic this was! Thank you for the stories and laughter!
Thank you to our amazing community of supporters who joined us last Friday evening and left their judgement at the door and opened their hearts to show compassion to a hero and human being that struggles every day with their mental illness.
